The IBT SOB (some other brand) Proposed Amendment: Grand Fodder for us all!

Dick Bartram, SCCAM (Study Committee for Class A Motorhomes) Chairman pronounced at the January 19, 2007 Mid- Winter IBT Meeting, "...Airstream Inc. has made the decision to withdraw from the Class A motor home market. The result is not only the eventual loss of existing WBCCI members, but also the loss of potential NEW members." With that single statement Mr. Bartram revealed the true intentions of the current IBT SOB proposed amendment which are: To change Regular Member requirements so that: SOB (some other brand) owners can become Regular Members in an Airstream manufactured product club! SOB members can hold elected office in an Airstream manufactured product club! SOB members can vote on issues of importance in an Airstream manufactured product club! CURRENT and NEW owners of SOBs can be recruited to become members in an Airstream manufactured product club! The claim is to protect 860 current motor home members, yet no current members will be forced from the club! SCCAM knows little to nothing about those members.

Has SCCAM contacted your unit's motor home members? We are a single manufacturer club, an Airstream ONLY club. Why does the IBT want to destroy this?

But what about Dave & Alice? Dave and Alice have been WBCCI members since 1987. For many years they owned both an Airstream travel trailer and an Airstream B190 van. The WBCCI has truly been a way of life for them. That's why they signed up and became WBCCI Life Members! They have traveled in many unit and region caravans; an Airstream caravan to Alaska, and a European caravan led by the late International Past President and SaveWally supporter Leroy Wallis. Dave has also served as a Unit President and National Rally Director. Dave says, "I think the best thing we could do is stick with the made by Airstream requirement."

Dave continues, "We had many happy times with WBCCI and have despaired over it's steady decline over a period of time. Airstreams are still unique RV's with an ever-growing number of owners. We should be strong and we are not. (It's) Sad..." Dave and Alice both feel that many of our leader's actions throughout the years have harmed the club. Now they see the IBT's current proposed amendment as one that will lead the club to dissolution. Dave says, "Stand strong and demand that "made by Airstream" is the only way in (to our club)."

Life Members have the most to lose in the proposed IBT SOB amendment. They made a lifetime commitment to our club for the camaraderie found in a single brand identity club. Now they see our leadership driving a stake through the heart of the club. A detrimental action that will end the significance of the WBCCI. Vote NO on the IBT motion to admit SOBs! RESTRICT your delegate from negotiating THIS amendment! Send your delegate to the microphone! Let YOUR unit be heard!
