What about these folks?

Manipulating membership requirements. It's been going on for decades and it has always been an effort spearheaded by Thor/Airstream. Here's what Larry Huttle, Thor/Airstream representative and WBCCI International Board of Trustee had to say at the Mid-Winter IBT meeting. "I remember 1981 when we brought to the club the aluminum motor home - remember the original? That was a three year struggle. Let's go back to the Squarestream. 1988 in Huntsville right? In ‘93 in Bismarck, on the Land Yacht. It's that Progress marched forward, recognizing the change. We sort of led that, not because we wanted to change the complexion of the club, granted it's a great club, but we recognize the change in the culture and this is the product and the trends. That's all that's going on now, we're just offering this up." Why is Thor/Airstream pushing for us to allow Thor Class A motor homes into our club? Aren't they the ones that discontinued making Airstream Class A Motorhomes because they couldn't compete in the marketplace? So will there ever be a time when we should cheapen our club by allowing less expensive, lower quality SOB product? Or is now a time when we should simply protect or long time member friends? The IBT knows the right path but who are they beholden to, us or them?
Here's what Buck & Grace want you to know: "As Airstream Motor Home owners we are opposed to the IBT motion to accept THOR manufactured motor homes other than Airstreams. We do this not as snobs or elitists, but to follow other RV manufacturers who insist that you have to own their product to belong to their camping or travel club.
Airstream has always been synonymous
with the aluminum travel trailer and WBCCI is their club and should
remain that way. It upsets us that a select few are trying to change
the WBCCI constitution and bylaws to suit their own agendas without any
regard to AS travel trailer owners who formed and built the WBCCI. It
is ironic that Mandalay and other Thor built RVs will not let us join
their clubs unless we own their specific product. Do not be swayed by
the argument about losing members if this amendment does not pass. Be
aware of the fallout and cancelled memberships if it does pass. PLEASE
VOTE NO!" |
But what about
Buck & Grace? Buck and Grace are Class A Members. They're the very
type of members that this proposed IBT SOB motion was supposedly
designed to protect. What's the difference between Buck & Grace and
our IBT? Buck & Grace ‘get it.' They know exactly what club they
joined-membership requirements and all. Why is it that Class A Members
get and understand what our own IBT does not?
