Ben and Kay

News flash! The IBT surrenders.
They’ve given up—thrown in the towel. That’s right our own IBT doesn’t even believe in this club anymore. They’ve been unable to post a single year of growth since who knows when? Not a single year! Now they’re telling US that the club is about to die! That’s right—with more Airstreams on the road today than at any other time in history—we can’t grow the club—we can only shrink it.

Well let’s clarify that. Members like you and me—we’re working hard at growing our local units—putting on bigger and better events—attending more and more functions. Our units ARE growing. Our units can grow!

But what about the IBT? Well the IBT isn’t growing this club—they’re too busy chasing away current members! Since when does bringing about the most divisive issues you could think of , issues that change the very core of what this club is, have anything to do with leadership?

What could be worse? The realization that the vast majority of our IBT (International Board of Trustees -- 21 members total) travel in motorhomes. There’s the missing link! We need to bring in SOBs (some other brand) and make sure they qualify for Regular Member status because if we don’t our leaders can’t stay in our club and lead. The majority of IBT members no longer have Airstreams in their future and that is the rest of this story!

Ben: “When my wife and I joined WBCCI, its members were very proud that our club was made up of fine Rvers rolling down the road towing our silver Airstreams. We all had one thing in common and that was our silver trailers.
I can’t believe that a few members and IBT officers want to destroy what Wally Byam and his followers started 52 years ago. This proposed amendment to allow SOB’s in our club is a very big mistake and should be voted down. I am sure that our members will not be fooled. They will vote this crazy amendment down but if that does not happen, then I am sure that hundreds of our trailer owners will leave WBCCI to form other Airstream Clubs. If WBCCI is to survive, our members will have to hang in there and just vote NO and show our current officers that we will not stand for their monkey business!”

Kay: “There is nothing more eye-catching than seeing a caravan of the silver Airstreams driving down the highway. I am sorry to say, I can’t tell a Class A motorhome member when we meet one until they have already passed and then I’m not sure of what brand I saw. Our club is noted for the silver trailer/motorhome and if we accept another brand into the club we might as well just call ourselves “Good Sam”! I find it a privilege to own and belong to the Wally Byam Caravan Club of Airstream manufactured products.”
