Club Enthusiasts vs. Club Leaders

The WBCCI is in trouble. Just ask any leader you know. At the very top level of this club the thoughts are varied. Our membership is dying off; younger generations aren’t joiners; a single product club can’t survive.

All of these positions represent a failure to lead. It’s not what we can do – it’s not what we should do – it’s not even what we must do – it’s succumbing to the current situation and making excuses.

FACT: This club gets more new members every year that would make most clubs our size envious. Nearly one thousand NEW members every year. That is outstanding!

FACT: We loose more members every year than we gain.

So what’s the problem? RETENTION is our only problem and there is the real can of worms. We have no idea why we lose a member. We don’t ask, we don’t poll, we don’t tally, and we don’t analyze. Most importantly without all of that data we can’t take corrective actions on common complaints that would help retain large numbers of members.

WBCCI Unit Web Sites

WBCCI to help units to get web sites.

It is probably not a moment too soon but the WBCCI is going to help units set up web sites. This is a dream for units that no web master or ability to set up a web site on their own. It is a visionary move on WBCCI's part one one for which I have been a strong proponent for since I have been in the club. Some of the details are as available from WBCCI's forums but are as follows:

Constitutional Amendment Proposal

November 20, 2006 – Revision NINE

The following is a rough draft of constitutional amendments that would be required to enable one member / one vote changes to the Wally Byam Caravan Club International.  This work is primarily being done at SaveWally.org.  Please join our forums at SaveWally.org/forums to help us construct an amendment that would be best for the club.

The intent is to change the current voting system so that all paying members will cast the final votes on any club changes and/or improvements.  Both motion voting and elections will be done either by a paper ballot that will be incorporated into the Blue Beret and/or secured Internet balloting that could be adopted at any time in the future without further changes to our constitution.

Membership Drive - A Feeding Frenzy

I wish I knew more about the Founder’s Award and if I dug through enough older Blue Berets maybe I’d find it.  I can’t find it online. I pounded out what I believe is a better mouse trap in getting membership numbers to increase and forwarded it on to both the Communications Liaison and the International Membership Chair.  Both are very nice people – both that juggle WBCCI efforts in their spare time because they have LIVES that go far beyond the WBCCI.

How Many Regions Do We Need Anyway???

Do we really need TWELVE regions -- absolutely NOT.  The information was right there in front us all this time but we were so focused on other issues (and yes there's at least a handful of issues) it didn't ring clear until WBCCI #32083 (thanks Mike) posted the data on another site.
