Let the rumors begin...

The name change issue is starting to rumble again...But who's behind it? So here are the first hints that people with nothing better to do are at it again.  These threads were read off of the WDCU unit board at yahoo.groups.com.  You can also see the COMPLETE THREAD publicly online right where it begins at Yahoo Groups. The rumor mill starts when a member of the WDCU forum states that she is concerned that making a new flag for the unit may not be a good idea because the flag will be come obsolete after July because think there will be a name change, the club will no longer be WBCCI. Hunter continues by stating that  They have another name, that's good and seems everyone at the big mucky mucky meeting, after the International, liked it. CLICK HERE to read the post. Others on the forum ask for more information but Hunter is keeping it a secret what has actually transpired at the big mucky mucky meeting.  CLICK HERE to read the post. Then Hunter proudly announces the "New Name" (are you ready?)... Wally Byam Airstream Club International.  CLICK HERE to read the post. The name referred to at the big mucky mucky meeting is the exact name that went down to defeat at the Delegates Meeting in Salem.  Maybe what we need is a new motion that puts a moratorium on any name change for five years.  Long enough so that all of these do-gooders that haven't a clue as to what the real issues were surrounding a name change can get themselves up to speed. So what member, unit, and region are proposing that we divide the membership once again?  Is it possible that after the last round there are members that can't grasp this is a dividing issue that will draw strong sentiment along traditionalists.  That this issue will once again threaten a decline in membership if it passes? Who still isn't aware of the legal issues surrounding any name that puts A**stream into the club name?  Hello?  How is it possible that more than HALF the WBCCI membership could even vote FOR a name change and pay absolutely NO ATTENTION to the legal issues that not only cripple the clubs independence but put the club under the direct authority of Thor when it comes to name usage and merchandising? Is it possible that these meddlers should be required to take some type of test before they're allowed to put such a divisive motion forward?  One that reveals what they actually know about the complexities of what such a change would bring?  This is sounding more like a cake baking fundraising event (what shall we call it?) than a prestigious club that has withstood a 50+ year existance. Let's get a hold of the actual motion and make sure those that will be directly responsible for another year of strife are recognized for the turmoil they'll once again cause.  They're simply out of touch with what a real club improvement could be and certainly don't have the club's best interest at the forefront. They're merely temporary members messing with a 50+ year history and for what?  Their own self-satisfaction and nothing more.  Wasted money -- wasted effort -- turning the club name control over to Thor -- merchandising over to Thor.  What could these misguided folks possibly be thinking?  Is there a REAL rationale for this?  For spending $23K-$50K for this?  I think not... What we need are members that are interested in GROWING the club.  Anyone can pull a name out of thin air!
