"...and certainly no one needs a new RV"

That's gotta hurt!  While it may be old news to some it's new news to me...  The full quote:

"Recreational vehicles "are at the swing end of discretionary spending because no one needs an RV, and certainly no one needs a new RV,"

Here's the rest of the story...

That's all we need is to have an actual reason for the IBT to say we'll lose more members in '08.  Make sure you counter with "Why didn't the club increase in membership the ~5 years that Airstream sold every trailer they could make?"

Making the club more attractive to the other 82% of Airstream owners means finding common ground.  Those 82% aren't wearing red jackets and ties -- especially in a campground or national park.  They have no paramilitary review of the troops.  Those days are GONE.  Focus on FUN, FAMILY, and more FUN (Caravans most certainly are included).  Change the look and feel of the club into something more palatable with today's Airstream campers.

I have to agree with part of that "certainly no one needs a new RV".  We are shopping for a used (as in older than our previous) Airstream.  In fact I am on the "trail" of one now.

But then I guess I have ulterior motives  ::)

Well, for that matter so are we. But then again we will need it for when we build our house to live in. However, it will have to be a classic (345 perhaps) and of course, be vintage ;).
