IBT, Delegates Meetings Broadcasts Archived
« on: September 03, 2007, 09:28:50 PM »

Schrader           -- 06-29-2007 @ 4:44 PM

The business meetings of the Wally Byam Caravan Club have now been archived on the WBCCI.org site.

The broadcast is boken down into the Saturday, June 23 morning seminar session, the afternoon seminar session and the June 26 executive committee meeting and board meeting.

The delegate meeting on June 30 will also be archived and will be available for listenintg on later than Monday.

To get the archive go to the International Rally site on the WBCCI home page. Click on the IBT, Delegate Meetings Live Broadcast page. At the bottom of the page are the archive links.

The meetings will be archived on the WBCCI website for one month.

It would be nice to hear from WBCCI members whether this is something they are interested in and would like to see continued.

Bill,

Thank you, this is great news.  This will allow everyone to listen at their leisure.  In my case, I was camping over the last weekend and not able to access the internet, so there was no way I could listen live.

I would like to see it continued.

I think it is terrific.  I was out of the state camping too without interenet.  The first 2 links work for me but as of this time the 3rd link for the meeting of the 26th is not working for me.

wkerfoot       -- 06-29-2007 @ 8:47 PM

I am having the same problem.  Hopefully just more time to work out the posting of the archive.

The problem with the 26th IBT executive committee and board meeting archive of the broadcast is being worked on. It will be corrected just as soon as possible.

azflycaster       -- 06-29-2007 @ 10:17 PM

I found the correct link to the IBT Meeting, but I can not seem to post it correctly here. I did post the information here.

Hi Bill:

Thank you for posting the recordings of the various IBT meetings.  Tonight I listened to the first half of the IBT Executive Committee Meeting that I missed live earlier this week, and I second Don Schaefer's "thank you" to you and the Computer Club for bringing the WBCCI into the 21st century with respect to electronic communications.  It's enlightening to hear the Board member's comments and concerns, and it helps me  understand where they are coming from on certain issues, far better than reading it in cold print.

By listening myself I do not have to reply on other people's characterizations of events and statements made.  Instead, I can reach my own first hand conclusions.  Listening has given me greater respect for nearly all board members, what they do for the club and what their concerns are.  I appreciate hearing from those IBT members who are willing to listen, and to reach out and work with members to address their concerns ... while being disappointed at the lecture delivered by one Region President who seems to be running unopposed for Club Scold.  He certainly won my vote!

But again, kudos to you and the Computer Club for making these recordings effortlessly available to Club members who cannot be there in person.  It is a valuable service that will encourage a few of us to become "W-Span" junkies for a few days each summer.

Eddy       -- 06-30-2007 @ 7:46 AM

Yes, I am very happy about being able to listen to the meetings both live and archived.  This is a great service to the members.  Thank you!

THANK YOU for the simulcast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We listened together as a group on chat in AS Forums with running tallies and as (almost) a rally site in our area we enjoyed attending the meeting.  Kudos for the technology to make this possible!!!

Bill I am enjoying the daily news from Perry section on WBCCI.org and the pictures and commentary.

I was wondering if you have any idea of just how many hits there have been to the simulcast and archives.

Schrader       -- 06-30-2007 @ 11:23 PM

I will check out the hits on the broadcasts and the archives on Monday and what I find out will be posted.

wheelinterested       -- 07-01-2007 @ 1:05 AM

Thanks.  I am thinking it will be high and in leu of posts to the forum in support the numbers may be a good indication of its success.

Good morning Bill-

Yes, posting WBCCI broadcasts in the site would hbe awsome! So many of us during working hours find it impossible to listen live. We have an arganization of 1,000's of members who have voting rights and deserve to listen to the process to which they voted.

Thank you!

Yes, this feature was very nice. There should be some server stats that show how many connections were served. But I really appreciated this.

It was great to be able to follow along to the IBT meeting. I hope the broadcasts continue in the future!

Thank you for broadcasting and archiving the meetings and seminars. I wish I could have been there in person. Whoever is responsible for bringing this to the membership deserves a standing ovation. Thank you.

Thank you for streaming the Perry meetings live. I was able to listen and
feel better informed. It is always best to hear information first hand and
then be able to form an opinion from accurate information. I am also
grateful for the archived content as well and am now re-listening to them.

Please consider leaving the unedited archives as a permanent record.

Thank you for live streaming from Perry.  As you know some of the voting members cannot attend all meetings or rallys and it is best for them to hear information first hand. Please consider leaving the archived meetings on the web site as a permanent record.

I found it interesting that the Mayor of Perry GA talked about their government operating under 'sunshine laws' during his talk at the opening ceremonies.

Many local governments now broadcast their meetings over local access cable channels.  Local townspeople no longer need to attend formal meetings, they can watch them on their TV at home.

With WBCCI members being scattered all over North America and Europe it makes sense that the audio of all of our meetings are made available to its members.

SaveWally.org first implemented this practice in '06 by providing members with audio recordings of the '06 International Delegates Meeting and then again at the Mid-Winter IBT meeting and pre-meeting presentations in January of '07.

We are very happy to see that the WBCCI has decided to implement this practice as standard for at least the '07 International Rally in Perry.

Bill, do you know if we will now be operating in this manner for all WBCCI business related meetings?  I'd just like to know if it's now safe to put the recorder away, or whether we need to polish it up for Louisiana.

By the way -- we were prepared to test the opening statements made by our IP that would have prevented our  posting and re-broadcast of those meetings had the WBCCI not made them available for download.

The WBCCI is a not-for-profit corporation and we believe WBCCI members have the right to hear our leaders and our club in action.  If the WBCCI will not make this a standard practice, we will be more than happy to step-up and provide this service at any time in the future.

Of course the streaming aspect is wonderful as it put our members right there in the meeting room with us no matter where they were, but the availability of those files for download is even more important than the live streaming aspect.

One suggestion?  You might want to add an open microphone over the audience so that listeners can better hear reactions to what is going on.  I think that would add to the reality of the moment for listeners.

Bill thanks for your hard work at bringing this club into the 21st century!  Exactly where were you 20 years ago?

I love you LEO!

Keep recording till you know that this issue is settled once and for all. I want to hear every meeting. IBT will begin to see how important it is to have information not filtered through so many people before it reaches
the "end user". Less rumors; always a good thing!

A belated response to the request for information on the number of people who listened to the broadcast of the IBT and delegate meetings on the wbcci.org at the Perry, Georgia International Rally.

The lowest day was the first IBT seminar on Saturday, July 23. There were 27 hits on that broadcast. This is understandable because there was no prior notification other than a mention in the Forums.

For the Tuesday, July 26 IBT meeting the number jumped to 61.

For the delegates meeting Saturday, July 30, the number soared to 214.

For the July 5 IBT the final figures aren't in but they will be around 80 listeners.

This isn't an earthshaking beginning but it is a start. The availability of simulcasts for the Mid-Winter IBT in Gonzales, La. in January and for the four meetings in June and July at the International Rally in Bozeman, Montana will be more aggressively promoted.

Bill, I have caught most of the broadcast and I want to thank everyone who made the broadcasts possible. The highlight for me was listening to the IBT Board meeting on the 26th when my unit (4CU) was granted a regular charter in the club. While alot of the discussion was not earth shattering I learned a great deal about the club from these broadcasts.

Thanks again,
Richard

Bill,

Regardless of the actual number of listeners, this is a great service which has been offered.  Also archiving the recordings for later listening is equally fantastic.

Thanks to all who worked to make this happen.

Hi Bill:

It's an excellent start to a new way of improving IBT communications to WBCCI members.  The 214 listeners on Saturday, with only one week's electronic notice, is indicative of the level of interest out here among club members in following major IBT decisions.  It's an effective and inexpensive way to get International non-attending members involved and invested more deeply in the WBCCI, far more immediate and interesting than reading policy pronouncements and voting results in the Blue Beret.

Keep pushing the ITB and Club into the 21st century.  We Internet familiar members greatly appreciate it.  Instituting modern communication methods will only help the club attract younger members who use the Internet daily for business and personal purposes.  "Thank you" again to you and the Computer Club members who made this happen.

Best regards,

Thanks to the IBT of WBCCI for sending out live the broadcast of meetings at this year's Rally in Perry, GA. This was a big step forward in communications with members spread across the nation(s) who are interested in club business and its future, especially the proposed amendment to the constitution to allow in non-Airstream motorhomes. We listened while part of the chat group on AIRforums, following  the tally of votes live. Please continue such open communication throughout the club, especially the excellent Communications Liaison work of your committee leader, Renee.

Thanks to all who made the meeting broadcasts available, They are a great step in the right direction for a more open and responsive WBCCI. I was able to listen to much of the delegates meeting on the hospital computer, where I was for rehab.

Eddy       -- 07-07-2007 @ 9:22 PM

Thank you for the archives also. It was great to listen live, but I couldn't sit through all of the meetings so it was nice to be able to hear them all.

Bill,

Any idea when the IBT meeting from July 5 will be posted on the web site?

Thanks for all the archived meetings and your hard work.

Thanks for the numbers Bill.  I bet there are many downloads of the archives as well.  I was only fortunate enough to be available for the June 30th broadcast, the rest I downloaded and anxious to hear the July 5th simulcast as we were also traveling during that time away from internet.  Beyond the numbers there is the progress of moving ahead.  I think once members learn that this feature is there for them, more and more will avail themselves to it.  I also think if members are going to want to get the details of the meetings then the WBCCI ought to be the ones publishing it in its entirety.  Kudos again!!!  Also looking forward to seeing all the units' websites up and going.

The July 5 meetings are now posted, thanks.

Bill,

I am just back from a 2+ week vacation, so I missed listening to most meetings live, but I have already listened to one recording.  Again the audio quality was quite good.  Thanks again for making both the live and recorded audio available to members who could not attend in person!  It certainly makes us feel more like a part of the club.
