Hi,
I'm not a "new" member, I've been been reading postings for some time.  But haven't created any post until now.  My biggest concern is the long-term welfare of the WBCCI and I think the recent post by Phil Pons, Leo, the Ontario unit and others are helpful.  But if and only if the club leadership reads it, understands the need for change and takes action.

JS,

I think they read that stuff, but I think it will take the membership to really drill it home what the club needs. The demographic of th eclub has changed over the years, the leadership has not as quickly (or at all).
Action will come as newer leadership takes hold and starts steering the club in a newer direction...

Hey JS!

Glad to see another encouraging word -- yours!

We're giving it hell, and catching hell, seems about right...  ;D

Well hello there cowboy!  Glad you found your way.  Don't forget to check out the main website if this is all new to you -- it kind of cuts to the chase and full of graphics too.  There should be a brand new article there in a day or two...

 ;) :D
Hello Martin, welcome to WBCCI and the Charter Oak unit. You have joined a group of fine folks who are dog friendly (kids too) You might want to talk with the Ruddy's as they have a lot of knowledge of Airstream trailers and the area there in CT.

Also the WDCU is an excellent Vintage trailer group (along with modern ones too) - They have two caravans later this year, the Crocked road caravans #1 & #2. You'll find them to be a great bunch of guys. Talk to Paul W in that unit for great ideas.

While I belong to both of those units, my regular unit is the New England Unit and we have a lot of vintage trailer owners who enjoy using them.

So, between the three units, it is believed that there are caravans or rallies every weekend till the snow flies.

Have fun! See you down the road.

By the way, I operate a dog petting station at my trailer site, so stop by.

Ditto to what Bob just wrote.

Charter Oak is one of the best units.  They know how to have a fun rally with interesting happy hours and great food and activities, like "Ted's Auction" and a Vineyard rally, late night campfires, and short Unit caravans, just to name a few.  They are very dog and kid friendly.  BTW, there are several "Vintage" trailers in Charter Oak.

When my husband and I got our first road-worthy Airstream, we went directly from the dealer to a Charter Oak rally in NY state.  We know nothing about parking, unhitching, etc.  The unit taught us all we needed to know in a very non-threatening (read "non-emasculating") way.   It was the wisest move we made.

There will be a unique rally in June with Charter Oak, Metro NY and Watchung units co-hosting.  It's at Fort Schuyler in NYC --Leo can give you more info.

See you down the road.

Just catching back up -- this was a 1,000+ mile week...

Welcome aboard!  Yes, the April Charter Oak Newsletter, "Chatter," will have all the details.  My guess is that will be out any day now.  The dates from SaveWally's WBCCI Unit Guide says Jun 11 - 14.

Stay tuned...

Well gee Firedog -- thanks for that nice friendly introduction!   ;D  Nothing like putting us on notice...  ;D

I wasn't aware that they had censored Pee Wee until just two days ago.  Welcome to the club, I've been censored, posts deleted there, and received rules violations there, um, three times to date...  Seems that no matter where you go, somebody can and will object to what you say.  I think Tim is in about the same boat here...  Tim?

With the exception of one real trouble maker (making outlandish posts completely irrelevant to this site) I don't think we've ever (in ~3 years) censored anyone.

So, you're about to be an ex-WBCCI member too?  What's going on there, and which unit do you belong to?

Welcome aboard!  8)

Well 65GT, sorry to sound hard, but as a  4th year NEU, member #3510.I love my club. The Wbcci will be insolvent
and bankrupt, making me a ex - Wbcci.I am lucky to be in the club, but like a big family they have major -members with family disfunctions and Attention defficient disorders.I have been to regional Ralley in Texas, and did not get a nice hello coming from across the  USA.I left that ralley before it started , I did not feel welcome.I have seen my Unit 1  President Bob Thomspon, lied about and Censored,by a IBT Offical at the PEI 2008 Regional Rally. Its a great club, for camping not for politics.I have made great friends, and have had good travel experiences across our great country.I am hooked on full-timing.Living the road and feeling the pulse of America. So if your a IBT Official >(0)

I'm curious what region rally it was?  If it was Waco in 2009, I certainly agree that was something of an organizational disaster.  Except for the company of good friends, I could easily have skipped that one, myself. If you had stayed, you would, however, have heard me play some banjo.

I love our unit rallies.  I am definitely not a fan of Region rallies.  I can't think of only one region rally in the last 6 years that was really worth my time and cost versus simply getting together with my friends.

I'm curious about the censoring on AirForums that I missed knowing about.  Any idea as to why the thread was deleted and can you tell us what the subject was about?  I saw Pee Wee's post mentioning the censorship in his good-bye thread.

Anyway, you will enjoy latitude here at Save Wally.
