In a move that has at least one DelMarVa member jacked up enough to quit and join the WDCU Unit leaders decided to lock up their votes at a recent joint meeting between the Keystone, Delmarva, and Mid-Atlantic Units.
Here's the report:
"Unfortunately, the Delmarva unit decided to vote YES... and I'm jacked about it. Not necessarily about the vote, but how it was done. There has, to my knowledge, been no discussion on this issue at any recent rallies, no mention of it in past newsletters, nor has it been referenced anywhere on the unit's message group. I had no idea it was even under discussion by the unit until I read the results of their "vote" in the May newsletter.
Apparently, according to the newsletter, the unit discussed the issue while at a joint rally with two other units and decide to vote. This event was limited to only 30 trailers total, so there could be no expectation that the majority of the unit would even get a chance to discuss it, let alone vote on it. Last year, the unit discussed the name change issue at the same rally, but then sent out ballots to each member. I (incorrectly) assumed this would be the case this year. I'm very curious as to why they didn't do the same with the motorhome amendment. How can a true vote be taken if the majority of the membership isn't present, or notified of the vote?"
This is what happens when you have non-standard voting procedures from unit to unit. 1M1V is the only thing that will fix this. Until then we're going to have people quitting units every year to join 1M1V units where they can get their vote no matter where they are or what they're doing.
