Region 1 Gives it Hell!
« on: April 17, 2007, 08:43:19 AM »

If you know enough to go to the Region 1 website and you know to click on the motorhomes link:

http://wbcci1.org/motorhome.htm

You'll find a number of opinions on this topic from a whole bunch of people.

As the embedded link in OUR pdf there (Yes, Region 1 has provided a copy of a recent mailing we made to Life Members!) doesn't work we wish instead Region 1 would link all six of the fliers available (or correct the link anyway).  But hey -- that's just whining -- we're thrilled to see Region 1 giving their members both sides of the issue!

The only question is -- how many Region 1 members even know the information is there?

Good job Region 1!!

It time to give Region 1 a hand. Bob the President gets it!! Here's the lastest email from Bob. He's needs your feed back.

Paul Waddell
WDCU Prez

"Hello all,

While reviewing the various forums on the motorhome issue in preparation of
my Region 1 Report to the members, I noticed a disturbing fact.

On the WBCCI.ORG, forum, it appears that the Motorhome issue is hidden under
"other" and that the last entry is 15 February 2007. Censorship?

Am I wrong or is there something afoot?

Why is this important issue not front page of the forum so that the members
of the IBT can feel the pulse and opinions of the membership?

Who put a halt to South Carolina Unit's request and why? - If there is no
deliberation allowed, then there is NO opportunity to amend a motion that is
on the floor - Robert's Rules

Why is the April issue of the Blue Beret far from "Fair and Balanced" on the
Motorhome issue?

As a "Red Coat" I am well aware of the "shot heard around the world" I am
well aware of the  fact that it is in Region I that two great nations sprung
as a result of that "shot. And I am well aware that the Birthplace of WBCCI
was in Region 1..

The club was in a turmoil before (the details are a matter of history) and as
a result, the Classic Caravan Club (CCC) was chartered and incorporated. It
was formed by Airstream Trailer owners and its membership grew "overnight" in
the thousands, members which WBCCI stood to lose. The CCC leadership proved
that they could operate a viable club with a nation wide membership  and
were holding rallies and caravans. Seeing the light, the WBCCI leaders took
action to resolve the "differences" with the CCC and allowed to become an
all Airstream trailer intraclub known today as the Classic Airstream (intra)
Club (CAC). This paved the way for the Vintage airstream Club.

As a charter member of the CCC and CAC, I understand their positions and I
know that the CCC Charter still exists and I know what they can do if so
minded. By the way, has it occurred to anyone that, if the CAC and VAC can
limit their membership to Airstream trailers only, then why not the units? -
they all are organized and operate under the same WBCCI Constitution and
By-Laws!

As Region 1 President, my first duty is to the Region 1 membership and I
want to lead them in the right direction. It is my intent to publish a
Region 1 President's Report and Recommendations to the Region Membership on
1 May and I need the facts; I need opinions from everyone; I want options,
and I want both sides of the issue. Please help me on this issue by giving
me everything you can, but no unnamed sources.

Thank you for your time and considerations in this matter

Robert (bob) Thompson II
Region 1 President

What happened??? Everything has been removed! I like what comes up when you select a link:

Information Removed

Per direction of the Region One President and Executive Board

Gotta love it! If we don't like what they say, we just shut them down! The IBT is pulling everything they have out to get this passed.

One step forward, two steps back.   Gotta give Bob Thompson credit for trying on this one.  I wonder what happened.

I wonder if we could get a copy of all those documents and post them here.  Somebody's got to oppose the strong arm tactics of our International Leadership as they try to squash all opposing opinion on the Four Winds Motion.  We can't let them win just because they have the power to remove opposing opinions to try to keep the majority of members in the dark about the real ramifications of this vote.

Actually Joe I think I do have them all.  Unfortunately I'm in the midst of changing hard drives so things are not where they should be.  I'll give this one some attention Friday -- I'm on the road tomorrow...

Hey, I just discovered that all of that "removed" information from the Region 1 Web Site has finally been posted here on SaveWally:
http://savewally.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=40

Great going guys!  But when were you going to make the announcement?

By the way, it is nice that you posted both the "for" and "against" articles.  It's nice that someone provides both sides of the story so that members can make an educated decision.

Why wouldn't we post both FOR and AGAINST positions?  We've invited those FOR this motion to come forward and debate this issue since January.  They haven't come forward -- they're hiding -- right there over the crest of that hill.  The one the Reg 12 Prez keeps poking up over.

Actually the page just came online yesterday.  Region 1 has already linked to it.  You're just ahead of your time Joe, that's all.  Your post is the official announcement that those files can still be had -- right here at SaveWally.org!   :o

Notice the Reg 12 Prez still hasn't replied to this one:

I wonder why?   :D   ;D   :D   ;D

In Region 1, we have a democracy where in the members vote ahd the leadership carries out the membership's desires.

The majority of the membership and unit leaders wanted all politics removed from the Region 1 website and so the Region President carried out their desires and the political articles were removed. The membership wanted their region 1 website to be oriented towards regional activities and the activities of it's members without politics, so be it.

However, please note that links were put in to direct those members who wnted to be involved to the sites where the political articles were located.

Note also that the Region 1 President presented a "Motorhome Report" to the region members which outlined both sides of the issue. Even the International Motorhome Committee members said that the report was "fair and balanced" A copy of the Region President's report can be seen at the Region 1 website.

There was no censoring or altering of any post - all post relocated had links provided so the membership could go to them.

You may be assured that there was a very lively debate on the issue and every member had the opportunity to vote. The voting results are posted here on SaveWally under Regin 1 link.

BTW, BOB THOMPSON, THE REGION 1 PRESIDENT VOTED AGAINST THE MOTORHOME MOTION DURING THE SPECIAL IBT MEETING IN FEBRUARY. hE ALSO TOLD THE REGION 1 MEMBERS IN HIS MOTORHOME REPORT THAT HE WAS VOTING AGAINST THE MOTION.

It is a matter of record that Bob Thompson, as Region 1 President, represented his regions membership no matter what his personal feelings or desires might be through out his term as president. No matter how much or how hard the International leadership attacked him, he stood his ground and supported the members in his region and represented them and their desires.

As a 24 year veteran of the Boy Scouts, I learned a long time ago to carry a snake bite kit. (My kit had a small knife for small snakes and a real big one for big snakes that try to sneak up on you.) Also, my grandfather gave me two of his closest friends to help me take care of snakes (and wolfs). One of his friends was named Smith and the other Wesson. They both proved very helpful when I was growing up and they always went around with gramps other friend, Mr. Henry, and myself. All of them helped me when I was in the Green Berets (you know, the outfit that does not always follow the other guys rules). Learned a long time ago that if you talk the talk, you have got to walk the walk. Looking them in straight in the eyes. The tough part is getting them to open their eyes. They have been blinded by their ego for so long that their eyes are closed to everything else.

More power to you Bob.  I am looking forward to your bio should you ever put it all down on paper.  Thus far your literary musings have been the best reading I have had in a long time!   :)
