Not referring to JJ at all.  What you've been made privy to, is merely the backroom politics that keeps us losing members, which now have us producing annual operating losses to boot.  Congrats to the nay sayers - they're keeping our slide to dissolution on course!

Oh, this is my favorite time of year!  This is when I get to painfully find the time to transcribe the most interesting moments of the IBT Meetings.  If you've been following along, let me set the stage...

While this proposed amendment overwhelmingly passed the majority of all units that it went before, YOUR leadership, in their infinite wisdom, couldn't see the trend set by more than 25 units.  22 for, 2 abstained, 1 rejected.  That's far more than 2/3rds, but because members HAVE ZERO access to amend our bylaws (for the moment anyway), these issues must go before the IBT.

The discussion starts at 5 hours, 50 minutes, 22 seconds (5:50:22) of the IBT Seminar recording here:

http://wbcci.org/archives/WBCCI%20Summer%20IBT%20Seminar%20Meeting%2006_24_09.wma

At 6 hours, 11 minutes, 8 seconds, I gave my last stab at this with the following:

Leo G, Metropolitan New York Unit:  I'm very interested by the vanity comment.  I imagine most of you will be turning in your 3-digit numbers for four and five after this session.  We knew that the International Caravan Chairman was not in favor of this.  Every number that's represented here, the 8-nights and the further reductions, "A" met the change in the WBCCI charters from 15 to 10.  That was the primary focus on that part, and the rest was amended just to get it down from ten to eight.

Units can do anything they want.  But if we don't have a feeder program for caravans.  If we don't start rewarding members instead of leaders, you know, you can keep posting annual membership losses, you can keep posting annual financial losses.  This club has to do something to try and retain members, and maybe do some growth.  I'm just shocked at all of the objection I hear here.  It's just amazing.  Tell me what the harm in the amendment is, and if there is none, then maybe you should consider that we get more caravans out of this, because that's really the bottom line.  More Airstreams on the road, more caravans, reward a couple of mere members, and maybe we'll, you know, move something forward.  Otherwise, we can keep doing what we've been doing, for what, the better part of thirty years?  Annual membership losses?  Have at it -- we can have a ball.  Thank you very much...

The point here is incentives and rewards -- and apparently in this day and age of annual membership losses and now guaranteed annual financial losses -- we don't have a clue as to how to IMPROVE our membership program to bring more members in, or even retain them.  You won't appreciate any of this, if you don't take the time to listen in to our leadership in action, over a VERY SIMPLE VALUE ADDED MEMBERSHIP INITIATIVE.  Good grief!

This discussion in the IBT SEMINAR ended at 6 hours, 20 minutes, 28 seconds (6:20:28)  Thirty minutes total...
