SaveWally.org gets plugged in the WBCCI Blue Beret!

A SaveWally.org Plug in the Blue Beret!

I'm still rubbing my eyes, but I think it's true!  We actually got a plug in the September Blue Beret!  Guess who we have to thank for this?  Ed Emerick -- our NEWEST SaveWally.org forums member!

It's right there in Region News, Region 7, page 35, in paragraph four.

I'm afraid it's not all good news though.  It appears that it's more an act of contrition.  It turns out Ed stole (yes STOLE) our Rock/Paper/Scissors Tournament for his own region's use!  I hear that somebody even made a trophy!  I wonder who that was? :^)

I think we should demand photos of the trophy and some shots of participants at a minimum before we pass penance, don't you?  I just hope that Region 7 took the time to make it an officially sanctioned event of the USARPS.com association like we did.  We don't want any litigation issues now do we? :^)

Any chance to post a jpeg of it?  Since we leave in a day or so and no BB yet it will be the third week in October before I see it. :(

Here you go!  Look Ed -- now you're even published here! ;)

Just click to enlarge or right click and save to your desktop.  Well PC users anyway -- I have no idea how Mac folks are ever going to see it...

Yeah, I knew I might start a Mac Attack with that one! :D

I just couldn’t resist the temptation of reliving the experiences I had at the International so we just had to recreate a RPS event in the Region.  I also think that STOLE is a little strong as I did give credit where credit was due, I did tell EVERYONE where I got the inspiration for such an event. Although I was a little lax on the sanctions, I did go to the USARPS web site and printed the rules, regulations and tips for all participants to review. We did follow the rules; I did explain that the event was NOT sanctioned, and that if anyone wanted to obtain more information on the events that they should check out the website.

I have also asked the participants and the many observers to send any photos to me for the destruction of all evidence that this illegal event took place, so sad to say I don’t think we will be able to provide photographic evidence of this event that may or may not have taken place. As you should also note in that article in the BB, I stated that if I did not get info from my Region membership that I would have to make things up!

Hey Bud...  You think STOLE is a little strong?  Pay close attention to what is written in that red paragraph.  Seems somebody forgot that they told the whole world that the event was STOLEN! ;)

Opps, I guess I should pay attention to what I write in the BB! My words come back to haunt me sometimes. I will say that the "event" was well received by the group and I was able to plug SaveWally to a number of people who had not known that the group was around. I hope that they become involved, that was the whole idea behind our plan.

But for the record if ever questioned by the USARPS the "event" never took place..............

Gee and I thought we stomped around enough to be 'heard of' just about everywhere.  Hmm...  I wonder if the IBT has ever heard of us?  Maybe not?   :o

IT HAPPENED -- AGAIN!!

Okay it's now apparent -- it's from a supporter -- but SaveWally.org made the Blue Beret once again!

That's right -- Region 7 -- Ed Emerick discloses all of his favorite websites (Nov '06; page 44) and SaveWally received the following mention:

"...One of the new Forums I like and have started to post to is at SaveWally.org, this is for those who want to discuss or provide ideas on change and improvement of the club, check out http://SaveWally.org/forums for some interesting reading..."

Looks like we've got freedom of the press in Jackson Center (thanks folks!).  I was for sure there'd be some censorship orders directed towards HQs.  Is it possible that SaveWally.org just might be surfacing as -- dare I say it -- mainstream?   :o   ;D

Thanks Ed!  In these days of cooler heads it's hard to catch members' interest.  We're not fighting a controversial and divisive issue now.  We're just trying to help where we can and improve what we can from our little lonely Internet island.

Now that I think about it - it would be nice to have that in a jpg as well because I could put a little section on the web for that.

Hello All,
I have found that the BB Editor is allowing me to be published without censorship, I have space problems each year but not content issues. They have been very willing to print what I write and very open minded, or I have become more PC, not sure which! I think that this is at the direction of the new President who seems to want to help change the club. I have noticed that his President Messages have content that I have not seen from the others, could be a good sign. I know that I have had contact with Don and feel what he is telling me is not all smoke up my ....... Could we be seeing the change we all are asking for?

Hmm...  I think maybe you've mellowed just since Salem...

"The WBCCI Board stressed control, club liability, the Blue Book, flying the right flags, approval of activities, and attendance at meetings, they were generally combative."

I know that opened the eyes of a lot of vintage folks -- myself included.  During the name change fiasco many tried to paint a picture of the IBT as a bunch of do-gooder type folks just trying to do good things for the club not realizing that they just nearly split the club in half.  Is it possible that your 1st impression didn't include Don?

Must have been one hell of a meeting.  Got any Fly-on-the-wall-cams?  I'd love to see the clips -- maybe I'll search over at youtube.com... ;D

Not mellowed just had a few more conversations with the new Pres than I did before I departed Salem. Also I am only speaking of my view of DON, not the rest of the IBT. He has a good vision for what he would like to see as far as the WBCCI and the VAC but I don't have that same feeling for his crew. I don't think he will be very happy with his year.

As far as my President's Message in the VA and on the VAC site, there is nothing in there that I would change now from the day I wrote it, it was a comment on what I saw and listened to. Those facts & feelings have not changed. I will say that Don may have changed his colors, a little, to help try to improve VAC/WBCCI relations; I just don't think he has the support of his board.

Or maybe, just maybe the guy likes me! naw, who am I kidding.............

BTW a webcam would have been ugly, for me and them! ;)
