If you didn't think the Blue and Yellow WBCCI bumper stickers were hideous enough, then you're going to love this one...

Looks like there's a no-cost, low cost experiment going on.  You should make your views known before this new committee heads down the wrong path and turns even casually interested lurkers away from the Blue Beret...

While the Blue Beret remains available at WBCCI.org under the General Information Category in pdf format (yes its lost there, but hey!), the wiz-kids running WBCCI Marketing have decided a more fragmented approach is worth a look.  Yet another new website, BlueBeretOnline.com is being offered to showcase, awkwardly, the latest Blue Beret.

While many junior marketing types are easily drawn by something new and flashy, in this case the polished look of services like ISSUU, where pages curl and roll-over like their real world paper counterparts, these online magazine sites violate the most basic principle of marketing -- keep it simple stupid!

PDFs work, PDF readers work perfectly fine.  If avoiding the download time is your real goal then Google Docs works more than sufficiently, its free, and the club heavily invested in that technology with it's WBCCI.net efforts.  Moving on again so quickly?  (Direction and continuity, direction and continuity)

Google Docs not only allows you to see your magazine online without the download, it gives you the download link as well.  The only thing required by the WBCCI would be a simple link to click on -- not another website...

You might want to try both of these to see what works best for you.  A Google Docs link where you can view the issue online in your browser at a slightly lower resolution, or the fancy presention zoom and pan offered by ISSUU.  Of course, if you'd prefer to download the issue from the WBCCI, you'll need to go back to the .org website, and then into the General Info tab, to find a download link.  The Google Docs view?  You can download the issue in the upper left hand corner of the viewing page...

Google Docs Link:

Yet Another WBCCI Website:
http://www.blueberetonline.com/

Convinced?  Go directly to ISSUU.com to view the big picture -- browse the selections of magazines available through their service and then ask yourself, which tip-of-the-tongue rags are using this service?  Exactly the point...

Make sure you let the newest Market-zing Committee know, that the PDF keeps your life and potential member's lives pretty simple.  NO frustration fooling with three different views on top of pan and zoom.

If online speed or cluttering your computer up with more and more downloads is your issue, ask them to provide a Google Docs link for the file where you can decide to view it online, or download it directly.  They invested heavily in both Google and Wordpress a few years ago, and now they're onto something else that doesn't outshine or facilitate what they already had in place...  Ho hum...

I've personally never been a big fan of the of the zoom, flip pages type of online mags. Very slow and a pain to work with. But then again, I'm old school. Give me a PDF anyday.

But hey, at least they are trying!

Right,
Could not find a download link,
In full screen mode I could not read it on my netbook, and if there is a way to zoom it I could not find it.
If you can,t download it for future reference it is of no use.  Right now we are self contained, running on batteries and using the cell phone as a modem and this is not a very efficient way to read a magazine.
Have already sent a note to HQ

Correction.  You can zoom it by clicking in the page.

Paul -- they are trying, but pure volunteer efforts (as opposed to a FUNDED committee) could have set this straight and simple 2+ years ago.  Put it at WBCCI.org, under a Blue Beret tab, with a Google Docs online link, and within Google Docs, the download link for those that prefer to have the highest quality format on their computer.

If this is what 'trying' equates to -- we're just as aimless as we were last year, and the year before that, and the year before that...

We're not attracting any potential members with these kind of efforts...  Put them in the same category as mission and vision statements -- BIG FAT WHOOP...

Google Docs link given does not work.  Likely did not go through the sharing process.
