David was a WBCCI Life Member, a friend, and a perennial "Black Row" International Attendee.
When SaveWally 1st came online Dave quickly found us, signed on as a supporter, and started relaying his past experiences with years of self-important, out-of-touch, leadership. "The Royals" as David would refer to them. Dave said that Leroy Wallis, was the only real hope this club ever had. Most others were all about their processions and the wonderful cross-country experiences they would now be able to enjoy, heavily subsidized by the membership.
Dave informed us that we were not the first members willing to point out to International leaders that they were off kilter, running a muck with membership funds. In fact from the very beginning, Dave advised, "follow the money" to see what is really going on with this group. We've yet to explore the depths of their real perks...
I was fortunate to spend some time with Dave during the last two internationals, including a lunch in Madison. In Bozeman, after the Delegate's Meeting, I passed by the First Aid station, and thought it would be the perfect time to drop in on his wife Linda to say hello. I dropped in a chair in front of Linda, asking to have my blood pressure checked, that I just came from the Delgates meeting and that I didn't feel well. Linda didn't recognize me at first, but quickly caught on, and was happy to report post-test, that all was a-okay...
David had a whole gang of "Black Row" friends, most of which are no longer with the WBCCI for a variety of reasons, but these past-members and life members continue to watch what goes on even from a distance and see that little has changed. Just that decades of mismanagement are finally taking their toll on our club with triple-play losses (membership numbers, operating losses, International Rally losses). All the direct result of past and present leaders not paying attention to business -- comfortable with posting annual losses instead of annual growth.
