from AirForums

Well, this might be one... my ability to translate into Dutch sucks but it looks like these folks bought a trailer brokered bt Gibson. After a few mionths and the trailer didn't arrive, they managed to contact the previous owner who still had the trailer in his shed. So these folks contacted the police in North Carolina. Aparently, according to the translation of the article, Gibson was known as a "dangerous criminal"(google's translation, not mine) which thee folks found out when they contacted the police. They were also instructed to get a lawyer or something like that.
But in the end, the PO of the trailer helped them out. It looks like they even got some threatening email messages from Gibson as the translated article suggests. But they did get their trailer.
If this is true, there should be a police record in North Carolina somewhere.

The news article named Gibson a swindler so here we have a guy that the WBCCI embraces that was called a swindler and these people were told by the NC police to turn him into the FBI.

And the scumbag has the nerve to file grieviences.

I want to file one against him who do I mail to?

Can I have Tom Collier's email please, this needs to be sent to him.

"Just wondering - can Gibson call it the New Airstream Forums? Isn't it WBCCI's forums?" - Simon

Well, what was goal number one?  Wasn't it to get back at the very forum that banned some sorry @$$ USED Airstream flipper/exporter from Airforums.com, for their personal antics?  :D

So, while you're riding the coattails of a 54 year old prestigious club, why not try to lure people into believing that you're the successor to the most popular Airstream Forums on the Planet Airforums.com?

I've never been impressed by the 30K+ members registered at Airforums.  Too many dead and inactive accounts.  For legitimacy they should clean house on anything 2+ years old that's inactive (IMHO).  They'd gain far more credibility with whatever those numbers might be, but here are some Airforums numbers that are simply undeniable and I am wholly impressed by them:

JUST TODAY -- ~775 Individual Members CHOSE to log on instead of lurk.  That number is HUGE - it's enormous for a forum, and it's only 4:27pm Pacific!

The NEW (cough, cough, cough) Airstream Forums never had a chance.  Most Airstream owners won't put up with that TOS, Leaders HIDING in the dark behind a moniker, and the infliction of over moderating everything.  Never mind what if someone has intentionally and deliberately installed a hack designed to frustrate anyone and everyone the owner so chooses.

Stories evolving out of leadership behavior over there echo the pre-internet days complaints with the all powerful club flag police.

You can try and keep the dirt under the rug, yet the pig-pen aura remains.

We have a purpose here, and people find us because we'll tell them what leadership won't.  Their audience is captured and lured by how many pieces of Vintage-Airstream.com SPAM?  I opted out -- how about you?

Yeah they can call it whatever they want, but with the overwhelming majority of Airstream owners avoiding 50's impersonators, and Pleasantville forums, Airforums.com will just keep cleaning their clocks by orders of magnitude.

I remember first joining the club and logging into the club forums -- it was a GHOST town.  It was a ghost town because LEADERSHIP failed to participate, so members couldn't be bothered.  Remember last year's drive-by shooting by the IP? :D  One and done -- goodnight folks, Elvis has left the building!  :D

Leadership has poked it's head in over there, but until they stop the nonsense and take their forums back, it will likely devolve into what it was before.  A nowhere place for nowhere members... [he's a real nowhere man, living in his nowhere land, making all his nowhere plans, for nobody (you gotta love that song  :D )...]

It's the exact same story with the membership.  They talk a good game, but for all the money they drain from the kitty, membership is the poor peon member's responsibility, because at the top, it's all about the annual North American Tour.  When the club can't afford to furnish them with their annual tour anymore, or they can no longer suck $125K+ for travel and attendance reimbursements, they'll just raise YOUR dues instead...  PEONS!

Oh and really back on point -- it was last year's IP that drove around in "Airstream One", not "WBCCI One" and that should tell you plenty about who is proud of the WBCCI and who would feel better to associate themselves with AIrstream instead...  So this false title is just a repeat episode.

Too bad Airstream ownership didn't revolve around the WBCCI, but all you have to do is look at leadership, leadership, leadership to understand what's going wrong, wrong, wrong...

Of course he can. Greg owns the site.  He can do anything he wants to do as forum owner. If he wants to he can call it Wally Byam's Carnival Club.  He is much shrewder and more savvy than a barrel full of WBCCI IBT apparently.  Whether WBCCI would like their official forums listed as Airstream rather than WBCCI is a very legitimate concern in my opinion too, Tim.  They really should have listened to you instead of discounting your advice... and Leo's advice... and Region 3's comment for consideration.   :o

Methinks they shot themselves in their own foot to ignore testimony solely on the grounds that Save Wally and other independents have spoken out against their current method of operation and have unilaterally qualified all parties as subversives and an enemy to the club.  Thank God they were able to keep those mal contents out of the new forums! LOL!!  ;D  Oh that's too rich.  I feel like evil Stewie. ROFL!!!  Stop it!  :D

If Greg wanted to he could really push the envelope ever so much farther and as it stands now WBCCI wouldn't even be able to redirect their own links, right?  Like the time just before they hired him AGAIN!  :-\

Makes one want to cry out, WAKE UP SLEEPING GIANT and CARE ABOUT THIS!!!

A better translation about the swindler

So I was able to find a better translation. It helps to have a friend
who speaks Dutch. The article is about, Kai, a lady from Holland who did not like camping, she cringed at the thought of it until one day she saw an Airstream at a show. She like many of us fell in love with the Airstream but the cost prohibited her from owning one.
However, her dream to own one was realized when she inherited some money. There was no question how she was going to use the money, she was going to buy her Airstream.

What happened is this - via the Internet she made contact with a Gregory Gibson, a seller of Airstreams in North Carolina. A quick deal was made.
Kai, the Dutch Lady, Paid $10,500 and waited with great anticipation for the arrival of her ultimate idea of camping, the the American Iconic Airstream.

Months past but no Airstream, Kai became suspicious.  Via Internet she found and made contact with the original or previous owner. This owner told her that she was "taken and that her Airstream was still stored on his property". She reported to the police in North Carolina, where she learned that she needed to be careful in this transaction because Mr. Gibson, the Airstream seller, was well known to the police and advised Kai to contact the FBI.

If she had taken no action she would still be waiting for her Airstream.
However, Kai received help from and unsuspected corner, the former owner of her Airstream. Via "Drag mail" (snailmail). Mr. Gibson was warned to deliver the sold Airstream.
Finally, her Airstream arrived in Southampton. She loves her Air conditioning, toilet and  bath, "marvelous all so comfortable" Kai said all aglow.

Hey IBT and C Burke how does this story printed by newspaper make you feel like curling your toes being duped by Greg Gibson?

If you check this link - you can see that GG- aka macgregor - aka Supersix berates a vBulletin Customer Support Manager for not answering a question correctly!
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309181
What is really happening is that the CSM is answering the question, as well as a few others, but GG doesn't understand the answer - cause he doesn't know web, IMHO.
What is also important is that Supersix used to be macgregor on these forums but changed his name. Problem is that changing your name in your profile doesn't change it in quotes. This clearly links Gregory Gibson to Supersix - a fact that will be important later.....

It is ironic that GG berates me for not being nice enough on his forum, yet he apparently is the king of rude behavior when contributing on others forums.
